Are you curious about the enduring power of the world’s great epics? Do you sense that these ancient stories hold a deeper meaning for our modern lives? This resource bundle introduces you to the transformative "maps of consciousness" found within mythic traditions, helping you navigate the complexities of the modern age with fresh insight.

A short lecture and accompanying paper exploring how the world’s great mythic traditions reveal distinct states of consciousness—and why that matters now.

Across cultures and centuries, the great epics have endured. We return to them not only because they are beautiful, but because they speak to something we recognise—though we may not yet fully understand.

In the first Annual Lecture of the Fintry Trust, Murray Morison offers a way of reading these works that is both traditional and fresh: not as moral tales or historical curiosities, but as precise symbolic maps of consciousness.

Drawing on Greek and Indian sources, it suggests that these narratives do not simply describe human experience—they illuminate different modes of being.

The accompanying paper develops these ideas more fully for those who wish to go deeper.

Navigate a Fragmented Age with the Proven Wisdom of Sacred Stories

"Sacred Stories, Living Truths" is your guide to recovering a deeper sense of meaning. This resource bundle isn't just about historical curiosity; it provides a framework for understanding your own mode of being through the lens of traditional and fresh insights.

This bundle offers a clear roadmap to explore:

  • The Three Phases of Consciousness: Discover the transition from Participatory-Imaginative awareness (where the world is alive with meaning) to Reflective-Egoic consciousness (the birth of modern individuality and reason), and finally toward an emerging Noetic-Heart consciousness.
  • The Colour Compass of Consciousness: Learn to use a unique symbolic model—based on Goethe’s work on colour—to navigate the "horizontal" plane of ordinary belief and instinct, and align with the "vertical" axis of memory and intuition.
  • Decoding the Epics: Explore how key figures like Hanuman, Odysseus, and Arjuna embody specific shifts in human awareness, from the formation of the ego to the awakening of moral agency.
  • The Recovery of the Imaginal: Understand why "The Eye of the Heart" is essential for overcoming the fragmentation and disenchantment of the modern age.

The Resource Bundle includes:

  • Video Lecture: An in-depth presentation by Murray Morison connecting ancient metaphysical insights with modern psychological structures.
  • Comprehensive White Paper: A 26-page downloadable guide, "Sacred Stories, Living Truths," featuring detailed symbolic diagrams and further reading lists.

Take the first step toward a more integrated understanding of human awareness today.
